Song Of Anhubis formed in Spain in 2012, initially drawing from the gothic metal sound associated with Theatre Of Tragedy, The Gathering and Sentenced. Their debut album, "Revenge As Redemption", arrived in 2016, followed by "Reversed Reflection" in 2020, where electronics and a more eclectic approach replaced much of their earlier gothic character.

The pandemic and major line up changes led to a long interruption, leaving founding members Rei Veil and Polvareda Johnson to continue the writing process. Work on new material began in 2021 with producer Pedro J. Monge, with the third album finally completed in December 2025.

"Ravaged Rage" moves Song Of Anhubis into modern metal territory, with heavier guitar work, contemporary production and greater variation in the vocals. The album combines melodic passages, electronic touches and heavier sections, creating a sound that sits between modern metal and alternative metal with traces of their earlier gothic background. That means closer to Lacuna Coil's style.

The production gives the guitars a firm presence while the vocal arrangements provide much of the album’s contrast. There is enough variety to prevent the formula from becoming monotonous, although some ideas could have been developed further. "Ravaged Rage" is a respectable step in the band’s ongoing stylistic shift, with a contemporary approach and a broader sonic palette.
