Perpetual Paradox formed in London in 2021 and have become an active name within the UK underground metal scene. The band has released several EPs, toured through the UK and Europe, and received coverage from BBC Radio 1, Kerrang! and Metal Hammer. Their debut full length, "Deathwish", released in 2025, expanded their technical approach and established the band within the modern death metal circuit. The current line up features Andre Luís De Barros on bass, Harry Cook on drums, Oliver Miles and Jorge Nunes on guitars, and Adrian Caucelo on vocals.
"May Misery Befall You" brings five songs of technical death metal, built on intricate riffing, blast beats, melodic guitar work, solos and breakdowns. The songwriting is more concentrated than the material presented on "Deathwish", with the guitar work taking a central role across the EP. Marvin Menz handled the recording, mixing and mastering at Tide Studios, giving the instruments a strong presence and allowing the detailed guitar parts to remain easy to follow.
The lyrical themes deal with grief, trauma and resilience, adding a darker emotional layer to the aggressive musical approach. "Bound And Strangled By A Black Snake", "Laconic", "Smell The Rot", "Source Of Hate" and "May Misery Befall You" form a compact release with enough variation in riffs and arrangements to prevent the material from becoming monotonous. Perpetual Paradox keeps the technical side under control and place songwriting ahead of pure instrumental display. The result is a focused technical death metal EP with melodic touches and a modern production.
